Broken Promises
Chapter 5
Two Weeks Later
Julia looked outside. The noon sun beat down on Caspian’s naked back as he pulled weeds. Her heart beat wildly as she watched his muscles move underneath his skin.
She lightly ran her fingers over his mating mark and sighed. For the first time in her life she was truly happy. Though their relations had not gone past a heated kiss, it was as if they had been together for years.
She had fallen into his life without as must as a hitch. At night Caspian would curl around her until she was asleep then run the country side looking for hunters.
Luckily for her he had not found any. He had a rambunctious sprit that she had not seen in ages. He cared for the villagers even though they shunned him. Caspian was her perfect mate.
But she knew that all great things must end. Either he would die on one of his hunts or old age would catch up with him before she was ready to let him go.
She knew it was impossible to make Caspian an immortal, but at a price she might be able to extend his life by a few hundred years.
Smiling she walked from the house. She watched as Caspian’s head snapped up. She wanted to laugh at how in tuned he was to her scent.
With one fluid motion he stood and turned to face her. A smile shone from his handsome face as he wiped dirt from his hands.
“What do I have the honor of your company?” he asked smoothly.
Trying not to laugh she made her way over to him, holding her skirt high so not to get it dirty.
“I can’t just be out here just to visit?” she asked smiling.
Caspian laughed and grabbed her arm pulling her to him.
“Stop you’re going to get me dirty,” she laughed.
She lightly pushed at his shirt and he released her. Picking up her long skirt she raced away from him. She did not have to turn around to know that Caspian was following her, she could feel it in her soul.
It did not take long for him to catch her, but she was not really trying to flee from him. With a roar he jumped making her topple over her front feet.
He wrapped his arms around her and quickly flipped them so he was the one to hit the hard ground instead of her. He landed with a grunt, but it was covered by a giggle that slipped from her mouth.
Before she could blink she was on the ground on her back and Caspian was hovering over her. A light sheen of sweat dotted his brow as he leaned in a brushed his lips against her’s.
She smiled as gently hit his chest with her fist.
“Oww,” Caspian whined. ‘What was that for?”
“For getting my dress dirty,” she answered.
“I bought you that dress and if I want to get it dirty or even rip it to pieces, that is my right,” he cooed.
She squealed and tried to push him off of her, but he did not move. She knew that she could easily remove him, but she did not mind him feeling all dominant at the moment.
Caspian purred and rubbed his cheek against her’s raking his scent onto her skin. Then out of no where he just stiffened. His body became taunt as a strange scent flouted through the air.
Snarling Caspian turned to look over his shoulder. She watched as he slowly picked himself off of her and stood. She had never in her life seen him appear so large.
She looked around him to see at least twenty men standing at the edge of the forest. She knew in an instant that they were all demons, but that was not what made a chill run up her spine.
One of the demons, the largest of the bunch, was staring right at her. His face was badly scared, but she could see his violet eyes as clear as day. His short curly red hair made her blood freeze in her veins.
It was the same color as Caspian’s.
“Seth!” Caspian growled.
Caspian looked at his mother’s killer. He stood not thirty feet from him, but that was not what made his fury boil over. It was Seth’s eyes locked on his mate.
“It’s nice to see you again my son,” Seth sneered.
Seth stepped forward and before he could stop himself a roar burst from his lips. It was so powerful that Julia even flinched away from him.
“You are not my father!” he snapped.
He could feel his claws and fangs lengthening. His eyes began to blur as blood lust filled his senses.
“How could you say such a thing?” Seth laughed. “Didn’t you know that blood never lies?”
One second he was looking into his father’s eyes and the next, Julia’s back.
“You better leave before I make you,” his mate snapped.
His blood lust quickly jerked back as he watched her.
“Who do you think you are, Human?” Seth growled.
Julia did not even shutter at Seth’s voice. She just glared at him as if he was a misbehaving child.
“I’m Caspian’s mate and I am as far from human as they come,” Julia snarled.
He had never seen her like that. He could feel the energy radiating off of her body. She had even started to glow a bit.
“What are you?” asked Seth.
He could hear the terror that filled Seth’s voice. His father stood frozen as Julia stepped forward. He looked past his mate to see that all the demons were fleeing back into the forest.
“I am your worst nightmare,” his mate growled.
Julia seemed to let her control go a slight bit more. The glow turned into a full blown explosion of light. He even had to look away from her because she was hurting his eyes.
He heard Seth’s cries then silence. The sound of running foots steps and strangled screams filled the air. Then almost instantly the light was gone and Seth was no where to be seen.
He looked at his mate to see her chest heaving as she forced air through her lungs. She did not look at him at first, but kept her eyes on the forest. After a few seconds though Julia’s eyes turned to look at him.
“I’m sorry,” Julia whispered.
He stared at her not knowing what to say.
“But I did not want to loose you,” his mate whimpered. “You must hate me right now.”
He watched as she crumbled to the ground. Sobs flew from her as she rocked back and forth.
“Julia,” he whispered.
He walked over to her and carefully picked her up. She clung to his neck as if afraid that he might drop her. His mate continued to sob into his neck as he carried her up the stairs and into the house.
He tried to lay her on the bed, but she refused to let go. Knowing it was a loosing battle he kicked off his boots and climbed into bed with her.
His mate wrapped herself around him as he ran his finger tips over her back.
“I could never hate you. You are my mate, my life,” he whispered into her ear.
Julia finally looked at him, her eyes still flowing with tears.
“I am so sorry,” his mate whimpered again.
He wanted to stop her crying, but did not know what to do. His tiger whined and clawed at his stomach to be let out, but he could not.
Julia pressed her face into his chest and trembled and that was it. He did not let his tiger out, but he did the next best thing, he let it drive.
The second his tiger came into control their lips were pressed against his mates. They trembled under their, but now instead of cries, moans tumbled from her mouth.
Their fingers slowly began to unlace the back of her dress.
“Caspian?” Julia moaned.
A growl was all his tiger said before they were on her.
Julia’s body screamed as she stepped out of bed. Caspian grumbled in his sleep before settling back down. As she crept away from him she noticed that she was sore in places that she did not know could get sore.
But even though she was sore and raw, she was happy. Caspian did not hate her, even though she could not understand why.
She had kept him away from the man that had killed his mother, but she had been selfish and scared the man away.
“Father, is this what you meant?” she asked. “Do I stay with Caspian?” .
“Follow your heart, my child. He is your destiny, but how it plays out is up to you,” answered God.
“Thank you, Father,” she whispered.
She turned and looked back at the bed. Caspian was sprawled on top of it. His chest rose up and down with his breathing, but when her eyes made it back up to his face his eyes were open.
He stared at her as that familiar smile slid across his lips.
“What are you doing up?” Caspian purred.
“I…. I….” she stuttered.
“I am not through with you,” he growled.
Before she knew it she was on her back on the bed and Caspian was above her. He smiled as he leaned down to touch his lips to her’s.
